I am a dentist operating a dental practice in New Jersey. In approximately June 2025, I subscribed to ZipRecruiter Premium to hire a dental hygienist. After successfully filling the position, I closed my entire ZipRecruiter account, believing this would terminate all services and billing. However, I recently discovered that ZipRecruiter has continued charging my credit card $559.78 every two weeks since June 2025, even though:
I successfully hired a hygienist and no longer needed their services.
I closed my account after completing my hiring.
I received no notification that charges would continue.
I did not use any ZipRecruiter services after closing my account.
The total unauthorized charges amount to approximately $7,277.14 (13 billing cycles × $559.78).
When I contacted ZipRecruiter customer service, they claimed that according to their Terms and Conditions, the job posting remained 'active' even after I closed my account, and therefore the charges are valid. This is a deceptive business practice. A reasonable consumer would expect that closing an account would terminate all associated services and billing.
I have seen numerous similar complaints on BBB and other consumer review sites, indicating this is a systematic pattern of deceptive billing practices by ZipRecruiter.

Verified ReviewerRipped off over $500.
I signed up for the 3-day free trial. I canceled within 24 hours.
30 days later, ZipRecruiter charged me over $500 and said that they can't and don't care to help with this fraudulent charge. I have to cancel my bank account to prevent more charges because they apparently keep your account active whether you cancel your subscription or not.
I didn't even use the app. Beware, they will scam you for your money if they are able to.

Verified ReviewerI want to unsubscribe and not receive emails
I wish I had never subscribed to ZipRecruiter because they can't take a hint. They refuse to stop the harassing emails of job offers & end my account.
My health has deteriorated & I work two jobs. I no longer need help finding a job. This mess never ends.
I will be getting a lawyer soon. I am thinking of suing for distress.
I need someone to talk to this online application stuff does not work when you do not have a résumé I’ve been self-employed and had my own businesses for the last 40+
Ive been doing home remodeling and home repairs for over 40 years. I also buy and sell Mini Trucks from Japan.
I also transport him to people around my state. I have a TWIC card that allows me to go into any port in the country or through TSA at the airport ! Not sure if I wanna keep doing the home remodeling and home repair since I cannot find good help and I work in $5 million homes so I was thinking of switching up and using my 2022 ram Pro master cargo van to be an owner operator of cargo or I can use one of my several flat open trailers to trailer a car or trailer equipment, or trailer pallets of equipment !
So I wanted to talk to someone that can help me get to the right sections to find work if someone can contact me at 561-308-****. It would be much appreciated.

Verified ReviewerI need to verify if a company is legitimate
They want to do everything via text and Microsoft Teams. They offered me the position and did the interview through text on Microsoft teams.
One question was asking what credit card I use. Another question asked if I had any debt on my credit card. I responded that neither of those questions would be answered. I don't know who these people are on the other side.
They even asked me directly how old I was. After they offered me the job they want me to send a copy of my driver's license online. I don't know if this is a legit company I don't know who these people are. I asked for a location here in Colorado Springs where I could drop off the information and they said that that's not how they do business.
This entire process was extremely impersonal. They gave me a number that I have to use to refer to myself.
I feel like they're treating me like I'm cattle and they'll just move on to the next cow if this cow doesn't work out. I find this process utterly disgusting and abhorrent.

I still keep getting job offer email on my phone after I was told by Zip Recruiter that my account would be closed. Due to my health condition I closed the account, but they refuse to stop sending me emails about jobs regardless of the account being closed.
For them, you will keep them no matter what. That’s how warped they are.
I thought my account was being closed, but I keep getting countless emails about job openings. My health has deteriorated and I work two jobs, so job openings don't interest me anymore. I'm thinking of suing for distress due to the emails that keep pouring in daily.

Not placing the candidate and not picking the call
Hi team i dropped many emails and WhatsApp but till now there is no response from the recruiting team if you don't want to place candidate then why you have open this company +1 (81*) ***-**** this is the number from where I did whatsapp as there is no such possibility to connect with you on call so that's why I did whatsapp.
User's recommendation: Don't do this fraud
Unqualified Candidates
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! We tried the 7-day FREE trial, which turned out to be only a 2-day FREE trial, and we were charged $103 for nothing.
The only candidate that responded in 5 days was someone with absolutely no experience. ZipRecruiter posts your ad, takes your money with ZERO accountability.
- No pros
- Do not match up candidates with job requirements well at all

Unable to contact
Ziprecruiter does not let you talk to a customer representative if you are a job seeker. I received an interview invitation via ziprecruiter message which i could view in my email but not on the website.
So i couldnt reply.
I tried contacting customer service but it was not possible. So i basically missed an interview because of ziprecruiter

Terrible we paid over $1300 a month with zip recruiter and we used them for over a year and apparently when you have one person who wants to blame everything on our company whenever their is 3 fingers pointing at themselves dont make sense. I thought the business owner who pays that amount each month for the services shouldve been called and asked what happened versus just suspending the business over someone you as a company who dont even know only a resume nor have any connection with doesnt make sense to me
User's recommendation: Talk to business owner before disabling their account

Everything you described points to this being a scam. Legit companies don't hire this way, they don't operate this way. You need to cease all contact with the scammers and don't give them anymore information.
That is exactly what I did yesterday. Since I couldn't verify anything, I stopped.
I was concerned they would steal my identity. If they are legit, they need to change their hiring process.
If you had continued to speak with them, they would have gotten enough personal information from you to commit identity fraud. They probably would have told you they needed banking information to send you a wire or asked you to wire money after they sent you a bad check that would eventually bounce (and then you would be on the hook for repayment to your bank).
